Overview

In 2019 to 2020 I worked as a freelance UX & UI design consultant on a multi-modular browser app, designed as an AI tool for Sales and Marketing teams to find accurate leads and target the right buyers. Due to an NDA, the brand name cannot be disclosed.

The product owner, an ex-CTO of a sales/marketing company, hired me to refactor and refresh the app's interface, which had a fully functional beta version. My role was to redefine the user interface, improve the app's communication flow, and enhance the overall user experience. Even after the core project was completed, I continued to work with the client on various design tasks, including creating eBooks, brochures, ads, and other marketing materials.

Responsibilities

• Collaborating closely with the product owner to refactor and improve the interface of a multi-modular app;
• Conducting UX research, refining user flows, and presenting design concepts;
• Refreshing the app’s interface, focusing on key modules, navigation, and user communication;
• Delivering approved UI layouts to the development team;
• Creating additional marketing assets such as eBooks, brochures, and ads post-project.

Process

The project began with a comprehensive overhaul of the app’s key modules, which were crucial to its core functionality. The product owner, who had originally designed the interface, provided detailed input during each milestone. We used Jira for project management and Zoom & Slack for regular communication, ensuring a streamlined process. Screen recordings with voice explanations were frequently used to discuss specific details of the interface.

The main UI design work took approximately 10 months, with an additional 3 months spent on refining smaller modules and completing the interface. The process involved consistent collaboration, regular calls, and iterative improvements based on feedback.

The app’s primary functions include:

• Searching for verified leads and creating databases;
• Enriching existing databases;
• Diagnosing databases for accuracy levels.

Result

Through our collaboration, we successfully reimagined the app's interface, making it more distinct, consistent, and user-friendly. We improved navigation, refined the app architecture, and established a new tone of communication for the brand.

This project provided me with invaluable experience in handling large-scale, complex design challenges, deepening my understanding of product design and bolstering my confidence as a Product Designer.
